JFVS Adds Special Touch to Hanukkah Helper Gifts

(Louisville, KY) December 4 , 2005 -- On Sunday, December 4 the Jewish Family & Vocational Service Board Room was decorated for Hanukkah and filled with parents and children making wrapping paper and cards to go along with Hanukkah Helpers gifts.

This Family Mitzvah project, sponsored by JFVS, included children ranging in age from infants to elementary school. Sally Davis and Julie Ciriano, along with their committee, including Aly Goldberg, Ann Schwartz, Rhonda Welenken and Christine Leff ensured that everyone had fun making colorful cards and dreydl filled wrapping paper. These items will be used with the Hanukkah Helper gifts that people from the community have donated to Temple Shalom and JFVS for its annual program. This year 37 children will receive new clothing, toys and accessories at Hanukkah.

"Even young children can participate in JFVS Family Mitzvah events, which encourage doing for others in our community several times throughout the year. We hope that these projects will lead to a life-long commitment to tikkun olam and tzedkah projects," Sally Davis said. The JFVS Family Mitzvah project hosts several events each year where families and children of all ages can participate and help people in our community.
