MOSAIC Awards
The MOSAIC Awards represent Multicultural Opportunities for Success and Achievement In our Community and honor immigrants and refugees who have made a significant contribution in their profession and in the community. The MOSAIC Awards will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at The Henry Clay (click here for more information). Contact Beverly at 452-6341 ext. 223 for more information.

International Adoption Seminar

Learn about international adoption at a seminar on June 19 from 7:00 - 8:30 pm at JFVS. Children's Home Society & Family Services and JFVS will present information about current opportunities in international adoption. For more information, contact Judy Freundlich Tiell at ext. 224.

Republic Bank Golf Challenge

The Republic Bank Golf Challenge that benefits both JFVS and the JCC will be held Monday, June 16, 2008, at Chariot Run, the golf course at Caesars Indiana. $250 per golfer and various levels of sponsorships are available. JFVS Career Conversations Series

On Monday, April 7 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. JFVS Career Services will continue the monthly series for those interested in current career issues facing workers and employers. This session will present Your Career Story: The Power of Narrative. Attendees will learn to identify the four stages of narrative, how to articulate your career narrative themes, and to explore reframing to create positive outcomes. A $5 donation is suggested for each session. Refreshments served. Contact Bob Tiell at ext. 230 or email rhtiell@jfvs.com.

Spring S.A.T. Preparation Workshop

This workshop will meet Monday and Tuesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. beginning April 14 continue until May 13 (skip Monday, April 21 and Tuesday, April 29). This workshop is recommended for high school juniors preparing to take the S.A.T. and sophomores wishing to prepare early for the P.S.A.T. Workshop. The fee is $160 and includes two textbooks for S.A.T. Preparation. Class limit is 20 students. To register, contact Janet, ext. 222

Late Spring A.C.T. Preparation Workshop

This workshop will meet Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Monday June 2 from 7-9 p.m. beginning May 19 and continue until June 11. Workshop fee is $160 and includes two textbooks for A.C.T. preparation. Class limit is 20 students. To register, contact Janet, ext. 222

Anonymous 12 Step Phone Line

JFVS now offers an anonymous phone line for the Jewish community which will be answered by a Jewish person who is in a 12 step recovery program.  This person can listen and direct you to a program that might provide some help or relief.  Call 727-9287 and leave a message.  Your phone call will be returned quickly and you can get help for yourself or a loved one.  Jews in our community do have problems with alcoholism, drug abuse, overeating, gambling and other addictions.  Jews in our community also are members of 12 step recovery programs.  You can get help.  Call 727-9287

Dual Career Coaching

80% of the workforce is comprised of dual earner couples. This interdependence of careers creates special challenges for couples.  JFVS provides dual career coaching. This is typically done through our Career Fitness package. In addition to offering each a personal career fitness scan, it provides the couple the opportunity to objectively examine implications this has for their relationship, family, and future career moves. Options for the Mature Worker

JFVS provides free career counseling for adults 60 and over who are contemplating changing careers, exploring post-retirement careers, or need help with basic job search skills. To make an appointment or for more information, contact Leslie Sanders at ext. 334.

Affordable Transportation for Senior Adults

Passport Around Louisville Service (PALS) assists senior adults in need of transportation or help with general errands. To schedule a driver, contact JFVS and ask for Shelley Kahn at ext. 103.

Support Groups

Caregiver Support Group

JFVS offers a variety of caregiver support groups to help adult children of aging parents learn about community resources and ways to balance their needs with those of aging relatives. One group meets at JFVS the fourth Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. For information contact Mauri Malka at ext. 250 or maurim@jfvs.com.

Job Seekers Resource Group

This group will meet on Thursday, April 24 and continue through May 29 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Job seekers have the opportunity to meet other job seekers as well as learn basic job search skills from an experienced career advisor. Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
Grandparents can find the help they need at this support group to care for their grandchildren and learn how to balance this with their lives. The meetings are free and meet every fourth Thursday of the month from 7-8:30 p.m. at St. Matthews Baptist Church at 3515 Grandview Avenue. Diabetes Support Group
This group is available for individuals with diabetes to have the chance to talk about what it feels like to have a chronic condition and share the ways they cope. The group is free to the public and will meet the third Mondayof each month at 4 p.m. for the rest of the year. Contact Judith Cumbler at ext. 231 or judithc@jfvs.com.

Parkinson's Support Group
Friends of and people with Parkinson's will meet at JFVS the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m.
