Honorary Chairs Announced for 2008 MOSAIC Awards
Entrepreneur Kent Oyler and his wife, Kathy, will be the Honorary Chairpersons
of the 2008 MOSAIC Awards, scheduled for May 14, 2008 at the Henry Clay. A serial entrepreneur, Kent founded OPM in 1992. The company has become one of the area’s premier providers of services to
fast-growth and start-up companies, and more importantly has served as the highly engaged seed capital investor for many new entrepreneurial companies. Kent also co-founded and took public broadband internet provider High Speed Access Corp, founded the nation’s leading operator of heavy-duty rail cars, founded Vogt Ice, the world’s leading manufacturer of high capacity
ice makers, co-founded packaging
manufacturer Simpak International, and
co-founded bCatalyst, a consulting and
business brokerage company. He serves
as Mayor Jerry Abramson’s Special Liaison
for Entrepreneurship and Venture
Capital and on numerous civic and charitable
boards including GLI, Leadership
Louisville, MetaCyte, and the University
of Louisville Board of Overseers. He is
currently the chairman of United Way
of America’s Million Dollar Roundtable
where both he and Kathy recruit new million-dollar donors nationwide.
Kathy also is active in the community. She served on the Executive Committee of the Junior League and is a current board member of the Louisville Science Center, where she chaired its capital campaign
and gala, and Collegiate School, where she chaired the Collecting Antique Show. She is President of the Speed Art
Museum Alliance and chaired the Speed
Museum Ball. She also volunteers for Junior
Achievement and Kentuckiana Girl
Scouts and was co-founder of the Metro
United Way Women’s initiative. “Kent
and Kathy attended last year’s event and
believe strongly that Louisville’s growth
entrepreneurially and culturally is linked
to welcoming immigrants and refugees to
our community,” commented Terri Bass,
Chair of the volunteer event committee.
